One Last Trail Improvement Day For 2012

Our last trail improvement day of the 2012 season will occur this Saturday, Oct. 20. We'll make a sweep to remove the overlooked branches and trees that have come down, cut back some vegetation that has inserted itself, and generally get the trail ship-shape for winter. It's a great way to spend a cool, beautiful fall day, and we may get some miles in as a bonus.

For this trail improvement day, please meet at the Chippewa Moraine Interpretive Center at 9:30 AM. Bring a lunch & water, wear sturdy shoes and work gloves.

Please RSVP by email if you plan to make it to this work day as it sure helps with planning.

96 Hikers Enjoyed The Parade of Colors

The annual Parade of Colors Hike on October 6 was a big success! Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with driving, organizing, registering, and treats. We couldn't do it without your help.

96 hikers turned out to enjoy the beautiful morning and the just-past-peak-but-still-beautiful colors. All were pleased with what they found, and many commented that they would be back! That's what it's all about.

Incidentally, $136 was dropped into the donations boot, making for a nice addition to the trail maintenance fund.

Matali & Ariahna Andersen enjoy the hike and their new-found hiking sticks

We're Hosting the Western Regional Meeting at Camp Nawakwa on SUNDAY, Nov. 4

Our chapter hosts this year's fall regional meeting. It will be held at Camp Nawakwa (on Hwy E), on SUNDAY, Nov. 4, from 9 to 2:30. A hike will follow for those interested. We'll be organizing lunch for the attendees.

The topics at these meetings are diverse, and this year, in addition to important nuts and bolts for chapter organizers, there will be informative presentations on how we acquire land for the trail what the IATA is planning for the future, and what other chapters are up to. There's something on the agenda for everyone, from chapter officers to those who are just interested in how the trail comes to be. The meetings aren't always so convenient, so plan to take advantage of the opportunity and attend this one. You can watch the Packers anytime. This is a relatively unique opportunity.

We can use some help with food serving and making some desserts. If you'd like to help with that, send an email to chapter@iatchippewa.org.
